our philosophy

Feeding is about relationships

The way we provide, discuss, and share food with our children in our homes creates the foundation on which they develop their life-long relationship with food, eating, and their bodies. At On Solid Ground Nutrition we want to support parents and caregivers to establish a feeding relationship based on mutual trust and acknowledgment of a child’s needs and developmental stage.

There is no “one right way” to feed (or eat!)

You are your child’s first and primary provider, support, and role model, and are uniquely positioned to nourish your child. We believe that conversations around food and feeding should make parents feel empowered instead of judged, and supported instead of shamed, and we work collaboratively with you to create plans that meet the specific needs of your family.

Supportive feeding practices are for every body

In our practice, we celebrate the inherent diversity of humans and their various identities and experiences. As such, we work with families and caregivers to foster healthy growth in their children and to nurture that growth regardless of where they fall on the spectrum of body size and shape.

Sometimes it gets complicated

We also recognize that for many people, the relationship with food, eating, and body has become complicated or painful. Using the same philosophical principles laid out above, we provide support to those struggling with food and eating to repair and rebuild trust in these necessary, lifelong relationships.
